The FDB Panel Fittings range of stainless steel quarter-turn locks is further enhanced by the arrival of this 7-074 safety quarter-turn to IP65. This is suited to equipment access panels and enclosure doors for electrical controls or industrial electronic processors in applications where frequent wash-down or other safety considerations are important. IP65 low profile stainless steel safety lock

Features such as a low profile offering a smooth surface and the spring loaded shutter keeping out material ingress are standard.
The 7-074 comes with 6mm square insert as standard and spring loaded shutter which minimises dirt traps.

With a minimal protrusion of 6mm our new 6-160 lever compression latch provides all the benefits of compression closure with a recessed operating handle. This makes it ideal for cabinets in areas with high levels of pedestrian traffic or narrow corridors such as computer suites, production line control systems or electronic cabinet in datacentres, while its resistance to vibration lends suitability to use on vibration prone applications such as railway carriages and HVAC panels to counter nuisance opening.
Lever compression latch

The 6-160 features especially easy installation. The complete latch, including the pre-assembled U-shaped fastening bracket, is installed in the cutout from outside. Then by rotating the fastening screw from outside, the U-bracket automatically fastens the complete latch and in the “closed” position the screw cannot be removed. The adjusting screw can also be used for retro-adjusting to increase or decrease the sealing pressure.

In addition the lever action gives both a soft landing (with cushioning rubber pad) and a comfortable feel for the operator – there is a choice of thumb activated handle release or a key cylinder security option with industry standard key types. Contact us for details/quote or see our catalogue for complementary hinges in concealed, continuous or external bullet/torpedo format. For security sensitive access areas there are also digital combination and electronic battery operated locks.

We have again added to our range of IP65 quarter-turn locks with this superb ultra-low profile 7-080 which stands just 3mm above the door so eliminating the hazard of clothing entanglement. 7-080 low profile 1/4 turn lock in stainlessThe 7-080 is ideal for equipment housings, electrical or electronic cabinets and enclosures in the food, pharmaceutical and marine industries where there is either frequent/corrosive wash-down or adverse environmental conditions.

This and other stainless latches are complimented with a full catalogue of fittings from hinges through handles to code entry locks, anti-bacterial finish hardware, standard L and T handles and electronic locking systems. Contact us for more information.

Over the years we like to think that we have created a specialist niche in the world of cabinets and enclosures – so that we are pleased to welcome this range of continuous piano hinges ranging from 0.7mm thick for light cabinet use with a range of types up to 5mm thick heavy duty hinges for blast proof doors. Special colours and designs are also available. Piano hinges

These continuous piano hinges are complemented with high performance fittings – butt hinges and lift-off hinges with a range of variants including rising/falling types, electrically wired fire door type and materials such as stainless steel, brass, bronze and aluminium – also for special applications such as glass doors and for security sensitive situations. High performance and highly aesthetic cabinet fittings are part of this new package, including handles in metal, metal/wood knobs, pulls and flush pulls. Glass door hinges, pulls, sealing and other finishing items.

FDB also offer a shelf support system for document storage or equipment mounting and a plan filing system – a high density plan and drawing storage system complemented by easy filing allowing for rapid group or individual sheet retrieval. Contact us for further details

Our extensive range of  stainless steel handles, hinges, locks and swing handles is now joined by the IP65 7-078 compression latch and its sister variant 7-079 with depth adjustable shaft. This enables the cam position on the 7-079 to be re-set to accommodate varying door-to-frame depths. Both items are especially well suited to applications where vibration may be a significant problem or where an unusually wide compression range is required. These situations include road vehicles, railway rolling stock, gen-sets, HVAC installations etc.

IP65 low profile stainless steel adjustable compression latchesThe compression stroke of 6mm on the 7-078 (9mm on 7-079) generates enough pressure to compress even the thickest gaskets and seals while the 90° action coupled with high pull down forces are capable of resisting vibrational movement that may otherwise allow doors to shake open. The 7-078 and 7-079 also feature a colour indicator of open-closed status for ready identification. IP65 sealing against dust and water is the norm for applications with these latches – as are wet/corrosive environments where stainless steel hardware is a standard fitment.

This newly launched range is a well thought out shelf support system with easily installed components in steel, aluminium, brass or stainless steel – to suit cabinets in steel or wood/organic base materials offering style and utility.

shelf support systemThe system features shelf support strips which may be screwed, bolted, riveted or welded, with either flush or surface fitting. These are complimented by shelf support brackets in light or heavy duty variants with finishes in a range of standard metal colours bright and brushed, as well as many other coloured finishes. The system is particularly suited in the high technology environment to the easy fitment of document or equipment shelving into complementary compartments or cabinets adjacent to the main power control or telco equipment.

Locks and latches really are our “thing” at FDB Panel Fittings – and this recently launched Electronic Latch Lock emphasises just that. Designed specifically to meet the requirements of system specifiers, the standard slam lock module can be integrated into any existing access control system which provides a 12V feed signal. System control is simplified via the closed loop feedback circuit indicating the status of the lock. Electronic latch
Beneficial features include IT compatible or stand-alone operation with I button, proximity card or keypad activation. Remote access may be achieved via a network controller compatible with the 12V, 0.5A – 1 second pulse operation. Naturally a mechanical key override is provided and the compact slim line design enables fitment in tight corners.

We can now offer a range of industrial hardware that has been specifically treated to facilitate the prevention and control of bacterial infection. This new process is ideal for anything that is powder coated, as well as most moulded items such as grab rails and handles. Standard finish is black but most other colours are possible with anti-bacterial additive in the powder coat.
Anti-bacterial finish for industrial hardware

In terms of industrial hardware, typical situations for products requiring anti-bacterial solutions are bacteria rich environments with human contact; the most obvious being medical, veterinary, food processing, schools and public transport. These processes are in common use by manufacturers of medical equipment, bathroom equipment, gym equipment, kitchen equipment, TV remote controls and architectural hardware.  The basic properties of using silver and its derivatives to protect and treat infection has been experimented with and recognised for many years – while urban myths have been around for a long time, such as cowboys putting a silver dollar in their drinks canteen for water purification!
Today the technology works at a molecular level and can be fused or embedded onto a surface. It can also be supplied as an additive that’s used in powder coating and plastic granules prior to moulding. Click here for details of grab handles and other handles from our range.

The clue or in this case the “key” is in what is says on the tin – this recently introduced high quality lock system for equipment cabinets and personnel access doors – our new Digital Combination Lock (IP54) – is battery operated allowing the user immediate and simple keypad access without the need for a key. Users have the flexibility to set and change their personal entry code whilst a preset master code ensures that supervisor access is always available. This innovative product can be programmed for dedicated single-user or multi-user “open access” mode and is suitable for a wide range of applications, including wet areas due to its IP54 certification.

Digital combination lock
This electronic combination lock features a 4 digit unlock code with both multi-user and single-use modes, as well as 8 digit master and sub-master codes. The codes are readily changeable and fully programmable. Battery life is a minimum of 10,000 operations from 2xAAA batteries with low battery indication and power failure override by application of an external PP9 battery. Mechanically the lock features a solid zinc die housing and cam closure. Click here for details of our range of locking handles.
