FDB Panel Fittings have seen that the new DIRAK 90° rod redirect adapter can solve a frequent problem with large doors on electrical or electronic cabinets in industrial applications, by providing five points of closure, or potentially more if required.
Builders of large panels can use these 90° adapters to enable fitment of additional closure points around the door perimeter to ensure uniform gasket pressure, greater security from unauthorised entry and greater rigidity of the cabinet structure, by tying the door and frame more closely together. Each adapter can accept either flat or round rods operated by a central lock such as a swinghandle mechanism or “L” or “T” handle. The adapter can then be fitted with a cam for closure to the frame and a further rod extension to transmit the linear motion to a further latching point.
Multi-point latching of this type is typically of value on switch/control or workstation cabinets in mechanical and plant manufacturing situations, medical device manufacturing or sheet metal fabrication workshops where the enhanced closure characteristics are beneficial, either because of the high amount of dust/water in the environment or because of the priority need to keep the cabinet contents clean.

We have a wide range of cabinet rod locking systems including rod guides, rod connectors and operating mechanisms for use with cabinet handles such as L and T type as well as quarter turn locks and swinghandles.
Round rods in steel and stainless steel are available to standard lengths up to 900 mm with blind or roller ends and fixing eye/adapters to fit the latching actuator.
Flat rod systems are available to order; please contact us.
For guidance on multi-point locking, refer to our Knowledge Base article KB02.1

The new DIRAK Swinghandle system has been enhanced with the introduction of their 3-440 Bearing Plate RS bases. These intermediary mounting accessories enable use of swinghandles with a single point polyamide latching cam or alternatively with standard cam and multi-point rod locking if required.
Installation is quick and simple with initial clip attachment to the swinghandle base, then twin screw fastening for security and sealing.
These internal support plates secure the swinghandle through doors of 1mm up to 3mm thickness and provide 270° limitation with the locking position engaged at 90°.
The “type a” bearing plate incorporates a black polyamide cam, while “type b” uses standard cams or 3-point adapter for connection into a rod closure system.

The new DIRAK 3-149 swinghandle is a low-profile IP65 locking handle which facilitates fitment of flat rod multi-point closure systems.
This swinghandle/flat rod approach especially suits larger door cabinets which need the additional rigidity which they can offer to the door structure in its closed condition, thus aiding sealing and security.
These flat rod systems enable 2 or 3-point closure – even 4 or 5-point and more, by virtue of multiple brackets at intermediate points along each rod. This new 3-149 swinghandle provides pop-out handle operation with 1333 keyed lock cylinder for RH or LH mounting and incorporating an optional integral earthing clip.
