Our new large format slam latch is a purpose designed unit from Weston Body Hardware for large insulated enclosures such as cold stores or containerised units. The roller striker latch is surface mounted to preserve the integrity of the door with an internal punch-style emergency release. Importantly, the release “mushroom” features a fluorescent button for easy location in the event of inadvertent door closure.

The 270mm latch is suitable for flush fit or offset doors and is easy to operate, even with gloved hands. It offers a quick, positive, smooth and quiet action for especially heavy doors. Finish is high quality chrome.

Electrical cabinet handles available from our Online Store include T and L styles, swinghandles and wingknobs plus paddle handles and grab handles – all the handles you might need in fact for a specialist electrical cabinet or enclosure.

The team here at FDB Panel Fittings have found that hinge solutions for construction of electrical and 19” industrial cabinets require a high degree of design flexibility in combination with stability and security during operation. It was from this close relationship with the specialist panel industry that the new “pop and click” lift-off door hinge was developed. Not only is fitting and removal toolless and remarkably quick, providing easy door removal, but it also retains the hinge pin – so no more having to keep track of fiddly pins.

Hinge release is readily achieved with complete security of the installation by virtue of an innovative design which features a finger slide mechanism, which once released then requires the door to be opened 30° before the hinge permits the door to be removed.

Construction is zinc-die and steel for rugged service – while the hinge offers a full 180° opening even on side-by-side mounted enclosures. It suits industry standard door designs with 25mm returns.

Flush mounting paddle handles are great for those situations like specialist vehicles, where you cannot accept the protruding L or T handle and need a slam action – like on a coach or a horse box where a recessed mounting keeps the mechanism out of the way. Flush paddle handles are available from the FDB Online store in stainless steel with or without keylock.

A companion inset T handle also in stainless steel with slam action has an emergency internal release and is especially useful where space is at a premium.

Quarter turn latches are core to the idea of enclosure security and access control – these simple latches and locks have been the mainstay for closure of wall mounted cabinets and enclosures for many years and as such we carry a wide selection to IP55, IP65, IP67 and IP69 on an ex-stock basis and available to order from our Online Store.

As well as simple insert latches in reinforced plastic and zinc die, we have stainless steel clean styled pieces for wash down hygiene situations and others with specialist features such as “pignose” vandal resistant security and others with spring loaded shutter plates to exclude ingress of dirt from the mechanism.

These 218-9104 50mm hinges from our Online store, in zinc-die with black or chrome finish offer a simple solution for doors of larger nested industrial enclosures on an ex-stock, same-day despatch basis with easy online ordering.

Standard configuration is for nested mounting with countersunk M6 screws or M6 integral studs. The latter version can also be specified as an earth continuity “grounding” variant incorporating internal spring contact and serrated mounting washes. A stainless steel version is also available. Version (b) of the 218-9104 offers a full 270° of door opening.

Compression locks and latches are gaining in popularity for their enhanced IP security and their vibration resistance, which makes them suitable for use on specialist vehicles and railway rolling stock, as well as achieving greater gasket pull down performance. Compression locks and latches come in a variety of formats including industry standard quarter turn and recessed lever designs – given their focus on high degrees of sealing and the likely environmental application  many compression latch locks are required in stainless steel – such as for use on hygiene/wash down equipment where the whole design concept is centred around high levels of functionality. For situations where it is necessary to view equipment inside a door or to look out of a vehicle, while maintaining a good level of sealing we offer window gasket in both quick fit Z profile section ( for 4.5 and 6.5 mm window panes ) as well as the rounded finish gasket with filler strip for robust hold on 2/2.5 mm door with 4mm window pane.

These EPDM sections are available for ex-stock delivery from our Online store and are suitable for use with glass, polycarbonate or acrylic window panes on specialist enclosure or cabinet doors as well as for inspection panels on machinery or on vehicles, trailers etc.
