Quarter turn locks and latches – or “quarter turns”as they are sometimes known are the mainstay of our panel fittings industry with an increasing interest in IP65 rated units – as reflected by the extensive stock and availability at our Online store. Typically IP65 and lower ratings in polyamide or zinc die are appropriate but we are being asked more and more for stainless steel – which we also have.
Of course there is no better way to check out these 1/4 turn access fittings than to go and look – so please do so here.
Or contact our experienced team to discuss your particular needs as we can supply from many major international manufacturer/suppliers.

Multi point rod locking systems – sometimes called espagnolette arrangements – are a mainstream layout for closure of larger cabinets and generally give a three point pull down of the door gasket as well as securing against unauthorised opening. Typically the rods are operated by a locking handle such as a swinghandle or traditional L/T type where the lock mechanism provides the third and central closing latch. Rod systems can be used on larger doors or access panels eg over a metre on a side where security of closure is important or where flexibility of the door requires support by tying in to the cabinet frame. Rod locking systems are available in component form from our Online Store – or contact our team for advice.

Traditional bridge handles from our Online store provide easy one-handed operation of doors, draws, access panels, cases and instruments with comfortable feel and are aesthetically suited to industrial or office-style environments.
Simple fitment is achieved quickly with screw fixing at either end as open front mounting or with decorative inserts, as well as the rear mounting options.
These grab or “bow” drawer type handles for opening or carrying are available in polyamide, steel-chrome or stainless steel, depending on requirements.

On a day-to-day basis we tend to use the terms “enclosure” and “cabinet” almost interchangeably, but except in the generic sense that an enclosure is anything that encloses ( not very helpful) we are probably used to using “enclosure” to mean something medium sized to small eg wall mounting to plastic box – while “cabinet” is reserved for free standing or suites of larger units – often around 1800 or 2000mm high.
The size difference of course has an effect on our choice of handle – in terms of style and function – hence we see quarter turn locks on enclosures and swinghandles used for cabinets but the actual choice is usually a bit more nuanced than that often depending on the pull down force required to achieve the desired degree of gasket sealing – hence L and T handles are still popular as are insert latches with large keys for extra leverage.
Whatever you decide on we have a handle to suit at our Online store.

These recessed pull handles provide a quick clip-in fix with flush fit and a comfortable grip for sliding doors or light lifting operations.
Available from our online store, these handles come in 94mm and 110 mm sizes, black polyamide, ex-stock for rapid delivery.

Quarter turn locks and latches are the mainstay of industrial enclosure and cabinet security – maintaining IP protection – sealing against ingress of tools, dust and water while protecting equipment from unauthorised access. Our Online shop has a selection of insert latches, key locks, zinc die, plastic and stainless steel quarter turns. Other variants include wingknobs, combination locks and food/hygiene specifications available for rapid delivery.

Our series of FDB 19 heavy duty RCCB units is designed to overcome inherent earth leakage or inrush currents, combining a variable sensitivity and time delay RCD together with a triple pole MCCB (minimum 16 KA) to provide overcurrent and short circuit protection.
With a unit of this type there is no “typical” application since it is suitable for use throughout industry from construction sites, mines and quarries to mobile plant and cranes and for the protection of stage lighting systems where thyristor spikes can trip conventional RCD’s. A standard feature of the unit is its non-fail safe operation ideal for primary breaker installations or those that are unmanned or prone to supply interruption. The standard FDB 19 series combines a variable sensitivity and time delay RCD, together with a triple pole MCCB (minimum 16KA) to provide overcurrent and short circuit protection housed in an IP65 zinc coated steel enclosure.
For example, a special STS variant of the FDB 19 series is used as a special-purpose power supply unit by the Royal Marines for landing craft such as the RM rapid-response/patrol boat. Typically RM landing craft were used to patrol the harbour approaches at Weymouth and Portland during the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
The FDB19/STS is a specially configured version of the standard FDB 19 Heavy Duty Adjustable RCCB designed to be mounted on offshore pontoons that are supplied from shore based transformers. Once moored, landing craft can plug into the FDB19 and recharge on-board batteries and ancillary equipment. Housed in GRP enclosures with glazed panel to provide sight of the various LED status indicators, the equipment comprises a 60A, 16KA MCCB feeding an electro/mechanically interlocked socket outlet. Electrical protection is provided by means of an EFU15 multi-function RCD and Emguard Earth Continuity Monitor; both manufactured in-house by FDB’s relay division. External Test and Reset buttons facilitate ease of operation and testing.

The standard DIRAK compression latch from FDB Panel Fittings is now also available in black to pair with black hinges and other enclosure hardware. The black finish with white insert markings offers a particularly clear indication of the latch position.
This IP65/67 latch offers a full 6mm of compression to ensure good gasket pull down along with excellent vibration resistance to prevent nuisance opening. It is useful especially on vehicles and machine controls where vibration is problematic.
Square & Triangle inserts (8mm) are standard & 3mm & 5mm Double Bit inserts. The 1-078 set height version is supplemented by the 1-079 option with a threaded square shaft to accept an adjustable cam accessory which permits depth variation of from 17mm to 73mm without the use of tools.
