The new and novel Giussani M5R T handle provides enhanced security with protection against accidental opening of cabinets, enclosures, storage lockers etc. which may be subject to vibration or sudden bumps, perhaps on trucks or trains.
The patented internal mechanism is set when the ¼ turn handle is pushed in and locked. It is then released by unlocking which allows the T to be pulled out and turned to open the cabinet door.
The Nippi trike – a unique wheelchair accessible vehicle has recently been re-designed and re-launched – as part of this process Michael Barnes, M.D. of Nippi Cars Ltd, sought to improve the convenience and sealing of the storage compartments on either side of the vehicle. Consequently as long-term suppliers we were called in to provide a hardware solution – which came in the form of our Large Friction Hinge and A1 Compression Lock.
The Large Friction Hinge in black finish aluminium, supports the storage compartment cover in the open position so that luggage, shopping etc. may be inserted and removed one handed without the need for a separate and inconvenient stay.
While at the other end of the compartment covers, an A1 Compression Lock provides 6mm of gasket compression to ensure complete sealing with simple operation, enabling quick closure and reliable waterproofing of storage plus keyed security.
Traditional L and T style handles are now available from our Online Store – these are increasingly used in place of other materials for their robust mechanical characteristics as well of course for their corrosion resistance. We have AISI 316 versions sealed to IP65 with matching cams to suit quarter turn latching applications from electrical cabinets, specialist control panels and enclosures to storage units and HVAC units.
Our recent introduction of the Giussani NIA102 provides the extra security of a “crown” key in an IP65 quarter-turn lock format, which is more resistant to being forced than other traditional key types by virtue of its narrow circular design. A particular feature is that the key is not removable in the lock open position so reducing the possibility of a cabinet door being left open.
The NIA102 is intended for switchboard and other telecoms applications such as racks, including outdoor applications where its IP65 protection is appropriate.
The range of FDB Electrical panel mounting items available from our Online store includes RCDs, Earth Continuity Monitors and special purpose electrical protection devices compliant with BS4293 for specialist panel builders who want to build in high performance protection to their own panels – they are available in AC and DC varients with Multi-range protection levels including pre-set and user adjustable types.

We now have EMKA’s 1110 quick-fit 120° hinge for lay-on doors available in our growing portfolio of specialist enclosure hardware. These robust zinc die hinges enable panel builders to quickly install a removable 25mm return door with electrical safety compliance using just 2 off vibration proof screws and a retained hinge pin system.
The 1110 hinge fits a single door edge cut out and is positively retained and earthed. The door may be quickly removed for installation or service access by operation of 2 retained locking hinge pins.

We are delighted that UK industry is doing so well at the moment – certainly we had wonderful interest at the Southern Manufacturing exhibition a few months ago and we are seeing the results now – to the point that we have been able to support the government’s Way to Work apprentice scheme. Our latest recruit to the sales team – Claire, has come through that scheme, which we see as an excellent way to ramp up long term growth over the next 5 years or so with home grown talent, and to develop long term relationships both internally and with customers.
You can guess that we are intending to exhibit again next year at Southern Manufacturing – this time with more space and product – and maybe Claire will join Sophie ( pictured ) at the show.
The small form factor EMKA 1150 program swinghandle is well suited to enclosures and smaller cabinets where door space is limited but IP65 sealing is required. Specialist panel builders can use the 1150 as an easy to fit industry standard handle in a well understood modular configuration.
We believe that the 1150 offers reduced vulnerability to vandalism and added safety by virtue of its low profile design, which incorporates an ergonomic pop-out swinghandle.
Despite its small size the 1150 maintains a high level of security within a modular rod locking arrangement which also permits up to 3 point locking for even gasket pulldown.

These ubiquitous industrial hinges in black finish are typical 52mm long by 40mm wide, complete with integral threaded fasteners for internal fixing on enclosures, access panels, lockers etc. where they offer limited external opportunity for tampering. These zinc die butt hinges are therefore a common choice for recessed doors and panels where 180° opening is required.
