We are delighted to announce a new development of our RCBO technology approved for use in DC electrified areas (DC immune). The new FDB11 RCBO importantly incorporates loss of neutral indication and comes with overload and short circuit protection – features which are likely to be of interest to electrical contractors, design engineers and plant engineers working in and around rail industry installations where induced DC current may cause problems in adjacent AC lines. The FDB11 may also be used for simple AC protection in schools and similar institutional establishments where its high levels of quality and reliability are appreciated.
The new FDB11 has developed from some 40 years involvement with BR/Network Rail installations and is approved for use on auxiliary equipment, e.g. in coffee shops etc. to protect against induced DC current. The FDB11 RCBO is unaffected by any induced DC current and so retains its protective capabilities for AC equipment. It is available for 110V, 230V and (FDB13 for 400V TP&N) 50Hz-400Hz from 10 Amp to 60 Amp ratings.
Multiple RCBO installations are catered for with the FDB2 4-way steel housed assembly which may be banked up in fully modular horizontal or vertical formats.
Keys – love them or hate them – we can’t do with out them so now we have a good selection of the industry favourite cabinet lock keys available from our Online Store so you never need be without your preferred key.
This includes the standard format key types like inserts, spanner types, double bit, crown, food/medical and pin tumbler type 1333/2233X – if you don’t see what you need please call us.

While putting together our Online store it was interesting to notice how many really useful miscellaneous items we have in our catalogue and because it is a section that is rarely viewed we thought it worthwhile to pay it a little attention in our blog – in the hope that it will help customers to find “that important little widget or thingamyjig”.
So we found that our miscellaneous section contained:
Spring bolts, dust caps, anti rotational device for locks, finger pulls for locks, cam slider to reduce damage and friction, corner gasket radius adapter, bridge clamp, slide bolts, drawing pocket, multi angle stay, dual ball catches, Snapline uninstall tool, escutcheon covers, retaining rings, serrated earthing washer, mini/small and large lid stays, magnetic catches, a non magnetic touch latch and a roller catch.
Many of these items we note are exactly the sort of thing that our Rocfast Assembly & Logistics service is increasingly finding appropriate to prepackaged service component packs, which we deliver all around the world for onsite installation where you want to be sure you have all the parts you need but are a long way from a source of supply.
Our Panel Fittings and Electrical divisions will be exhibiting their ranges of enclosure related products and services at the Southern Manufacturing Show in Farnborough on February 10-12th, 2015.
We will be featuring on the stand the popular Rocfast “locks and logistics” package which handholds customers through the supply chain hurdles of specification, ordering, component assembly, packaging and delivery, whether to factory or installation site. Typically this involves locks to varying IP ratings in plastic, zinc die or stainless steel, but also covers the collation of production packs – hinges, keys, tabs, gasket etc. in scheduled quantities.
Of particular interest to enclosure and cabinet builders will be the Dirak range of high quality swinghandles, locks, hinges and other panelware, plus their D-SNAP technology components.
On the Electrical side, as leading specialists in the field of electrical protection there will be RCDs for personnel or plant protection, Earth Continuity Monitors, test sets and auxiliary devices.
Happy 2015 to all our customers.

We look forward to delivering
online, ex-stock, sorting specifications, dealing with packing and logistics (
Rocfast) – in short dealing with and supporting your
enclosure fittings problems from quarter turn locks and swinghandles to stainless steel hygiene area locks and hinges – plus of course providing our full range of industrial
power and earth protection equipment for industrial and railway to military applications.
As specialist enclosure hardware distributors and electrical panel equipment manufacturers we know the pressures of the industry and what it takes to meet cost/time constraints – so we look forward to talking with you through the year and helping you to become a more successful business – call us we can help.
Traditional T handles are now available ex-stock, online for specialist cabinets, enclosures, furniture and vehicles in sealing levels up to IP65 from our Online shop.
Our T handles are offered in zinc die, polyamide and stainless steel, both locking and non-locking with matching tabs/cams which may be selected from many different depth options to suit custom door and frame configurations.
Finishes are available in chrome, black and surface polished stainless steel to suit office and industrial environments.
The recent launch of our Online Store makes easily available a range of recessed handles for cabinets, cupboards, storage and luggage, and for specialist vehicles where the safety feature of a recessed handle is an important consideration.
The Panel Fittings range online includes clip-in pull handles for simple sliding, or snap closure panels – up to flush fitting, paddle and recessed T handles in stainless steel, also slam latches for access panels or floor traps where corrosion resistance is important.
We have recently completed a new contract to supply the FDB 19/STS special-purpose power supply units for use by Royal Marines landing craft such as the RM rapid-response/patrol boat. The current order comes after we first supplied equipment for this application as long ago as 2004. Typically RM landing craft were used to patrol the harbour approaches at Weymouth and Portland during the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
The FDB 19/STS is a specially configured version of the standard FDB 19 Heavy Duty Adjustable RCCB designed to be mounted on offshore pontoons that are supplied from shore based transformers. Once moored, landing craft can plug into the FDB 19 and recharge on-board batteries and ancillary equipment. Housed in GRP enclosures with glazed panel to provide sight of the various LED status indicators, the equipment comprises a 60A, 16KA MCCB feeding an electro/mechanically interlocked socket outlet. Electrical protection is provided by means of an EFU15 multi-function RCD and Emguard Earth Continuity Monitor; both manufactured in-house by FDB’s relay division. External Test and Reset buttons facilitate ease of operation and testing.
The standard FDB 19 series combines a variable sensitivity and time delay RCD, together with a triple pole MCCB (minimum 15KA) to provide overcurrent and short circuit protection housed in an IP65 zinc coated steel enclosure.
The installation of these units is recommended to overcome inherent earth leakage or inrush currents and achieve the optimum level of protection without the inconvenience of spurious tripping. It has numerous applications throughout industry from construction sites, mines and quarries, to the protection of stage lighting systems where thyristor spikes can trip conventional RCD’s.
A feature of the standard FDB 19 is its non-fail safe operation, ideal for primary breaker installations or those that are unmanned or prone to supply interruption. A fail-safe version requiring reset of MCCB on restoration of a supply interruption is also available.

In our role as cabinet hardware specialists, we are increasingly being asked to supply stainless steel locks and latches for external vibration prone applications – so we are delighted to have available an attractive low profile latch in stainless steel that is ideal for access panels and doors on mobile plant, static and moving machinery, mobile generators, vehicles, HVAC units, floor access maintenance panels and specialised installations such as wind turbines.
This low profile (just 3.5mm) quarter-turn latch in AISI 303 stainless steel features IP65 sealing with a spring loaded key shutter and is suited to RH or LH installation. Standard key is 6mm square format with other types available. Fitment is by industry standard 20mm rounded square cutout with the facility to insert the lock/cam assembly through the cutout.
